My Car Mentors ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website, applications, and services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.
Contents
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, password, role (Client or Mentor), and profile details.
- Mentor verification data: credentials, certifications, work history, and links you submit for review.
- Vehicle & build data: vehicles you add to your garage, build phases, photos, receipts, and notes.
- Service content: questions, messages, session details, ratings, and reviews.
- Transaction data: purchase history and payout records (card numbers are handled by our payment processors, not stored by us).
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and usage analytics collected automatically.
2. How we use your information
- Create and manage your account and match Clients with Mentors.
- Facilitate bookings, paid Q&A, messaging, calls, and build tracking.
- Process payments and Mentor payouts and prevent fraud.
- Provide support, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms and Refund Policy.
- Send service messages and, where permitted, product updates and marketing (which you can opt out of).
- Improve, secure, and analyze the Platform.
3. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law (such as the GDPR) requires it, we process personal data on the bases of: performance of our contract with you; your consent (for example, for marketing); our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Platform; and compliance with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed: with the other party to a booking or question (Clients and Mentors see the information necessary to provide the service); with service providers who help us operate (such as hosting, analytics, email, and payment processors) under confidentiality obligations; when required by law or to protect rights and safety; and in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.
5. Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality. Where required, we will ask for your consent to non-essential cookies.
6. Payment data
Payments are processed by third-party providers such as Stripe and PayPal. Your full card details are collected and stored by those providers under their own privacy policies and PCI-DSS standards; we receive only limited information (such as the last four digits and transaction status) needed to manage your account.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, then for the period required to meet legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and role-based permissions — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to notify you of significant incidents where required.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent. You can manage much of your information from your dashboard, or contact us to exercise these rights. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
The Platform is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by law.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect indicates acceptance.
